Baseball Produces Three All-Liberty League Players

TROY, N.Y. – Three Union College baseball players earned All-Conference honors from the Liberty League, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon, with senior Caleb Miller securing his third straight first-team award, sophomore Dylan Swarts grabbing second-team laurels, and senior Andrew Keaveney earning a spot on the third team.

Starting all 37 games for Union and catching 275 of Union's 311 innings defensively, Miller put the finishing touches on one of the greatest careers in program history on his way to his third All-Liberty League first-team honor. As a senior, Miller became the Garnet Chargers' program leader in hits (181), runs (138), RBIs (122), total bases (302), and at-bats (527), reaching all five marks in 2026 as he slashed .368/.446/.573. He notched his record-breaking hit and RBI on the same swing on April 29 against VTSU Castleton. Miller finished his All-Conference season on a 12-game hitting streak, had 15 multi-hit games, six three-hit games, and a pair of four-hit performances while also recording at least one RBI and/or at least one run in 29 of Union's 37 games. On March 14, he hit one of his five home runs during a 13-run inning for Union. His home run came with the bases loaded and Union down by three, and his go-ahead grand slam served as one of his three eventual game-winning RBIs and one of his four game-winning runs on the season. At the conclusion of the Liberty League Tournament, Miller ranks in the top-10 of eight offensive statistics in the conference including 10th in OPS (1.060) and sixth in stolen bases (19).  He also led the league by throwing out 20 would-be base stealers on the season.

Miller is the first Union baseball player to earn first-team All-Conference honors in three straight seasons since Jake Fishman '18 was named to the first team six times as a pitcher, utility player, designated hitter, and first baseman as a first-year, sophomore, and junior. Miller, Fishman, and Adam Chadwick '05 are the only three players in program history to earn first-team accolades from their conference in three consecutive seasons.

After earning third-team recognition as a first year, Swarts was recognized as a second-team shortstop in his second season in Schenectady. The Chester, N.J. native led Union in home runs (6), runs scored (41), RBIs (36), total bases (90), and slugging percentage (.581) while batting .342 in 37 games, starting every one at shortstop. He also posted a 2.19 ERA in seven relief appearances, striking out 13 in 12.1 innings with a 2-1 record and a save. He posted 17 multi-hit games and had a single-game season-high five hits against Bard on April 18 with four RBIs and one run scored. Swarts went 16 games and 59 chances to begin the season without making an error and was a part of 13 double plays. In the Liberty League, he tied for the second-most doubles (17), had the sixth-most RBIs, sixth-most hits (53), seventh-most runs scored, and tied for the fourth-most home runs. His 0.46 doubles per game are the 33rd most in the country, and his 17 doubles are the 44th-most in DIII baseball, as well as the second-most in a single season in program history.

Keaveney earned All-Conference honors for the second straight season, appearing on the Liberty League's third team as a utility player. He proved to be one of the best on-base hitters in the conference while splitting his time almost evenly between first base, right field, and designated hitter. The senior reached base at a .513 clip (the fourth-best in the conference) and was one of four Liberty League hitters to bat over .400, hitting .411. Both marks represented single-season career bests for Keaveney, put together with 23 runs, 29 RBIs, and a .519 slugging percentage for another career-best 1.032 OPS. Keaveney recorded 16 multi-hit games and had two four-hit performances at the dish. He also walked 26 times (sixth-most in the Liberty League), giving him the fourth-most walks in a single season in program history.
