Union baseball loses 11-10 to Ramapo despite posting 16 hits

Matt Sheehan allowed just four hits in 3 1/3 innings.

PORT CHARLOTTE, FL -- Ramapo scored two unearned runs in the top of the ninth to pull out an 11-10 baseball triumph over Union Monday afternoon in Florida. The Dutchmen fell to 1-1 on the young season, while the Roadrunners improved to 5-3 in snapping a three-game losing streak.

Union featured two hits each by Adam Chused (Concord, MA/Concord-Carlisle) and Kyle Murphy (Plymouth, MA/Phillips Academy). Ramapo winning pitcher Marcus Heredia did not allow a hit or a run in two innings for the Roadrunners. The Dutchmen led 3-2 after four, but the Roadrunners put seven on the board in the top of the fifth for a 9-3 lead. But Union bounced back as six Dutchmen crossed the plate in the bottom of that frame, and a single run in the sixth gave them a 10-9 lead.

Union will face St. Joseph's College of New York Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m.
