All-America! Dylan Swarts Named to D3baseball's Fourth Team

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Union College baseball sophomore Dylan Swarts was named to the D3baseball.com All-America fourth team as a utility player, the organization announced Thursday morning.

Swarts, who started every game for Union at shortstop while also pitching in seven games, became Union's first All-American baseball player since 2018 and 11th overall in program history. The Garnet Charger shortstop/pitcher was also one of two Liberty League players recognized as an All-American by D3baseball, joined by Ithaca's Ethan Fantel.

Swarts lead Union in home runs (6), runs scored (41), RBIs (36), total bases (90), and slugging percentage (.581) while batting .342. He posted a 2.19 ERA in seven relief appearances, striking out 13 in 12.1 innings with a 2-1 record and a save. The utility player posted 17 multi-hit games and had a single-game season-high five hits against Bard on April 18 with four RBIs and one run scored. Defensively, he went 16 games and 59 chances to begin the season without making an error and was a part of 13 double plays. As an All-Conference player, Swarts was 10th in the Liberty League with 81 assists, tied for the third-most doubles (17), had the eighth-most RBIs, sixth-most hits (53), seventh-most runs scored, and tied for the fifth-most home runs in the league. As of May 29 with the NCAA Division III baseball championship still in progress, Swarts' 0.46 doubles per game are the 31st most in the country. He hit 17 two-baggers on the season, giving him the second-most in a single season in program history.

The 2026 All-American, ABCA and D3baseball.com All-Region honoree, and two-time All-Liberty League player, Swarts was also recognized on Friday by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) as a member of the All-ECAC Team, along with 13 other players. The ECAC is an 85-year-old organization with well over 200 member schools across all three NCAA Divisions - I, II, and III. The ECAC exists to enhance the experience of student-athletes participating in intercollegiate athletics and provides great value for universities and colleges by sponsoring championships, leagues, bowl games, tournaments and other competitions throughout the Northeast.

Swarts is one of 11 Union student-athletes to receive some form of All-America recognition in their respective sports during the 2025-26 academic year. Women's track & field sophomore Ashley Sheldon was a USTFCCCA All-America first-team winner in the high jump, senior Shannon McGrath from women's volleyball earned AVCA All-America honorable mention laurels, men's basketball's Jack Plesser was named a CSC Academic All-America first-team winner as well as an NABC second-team All-American, junior Maddie Greco (field hockey) tallied her second straight NFHCA All-America honor, junior Tyler Dunbar from the men's hockey team secured Second-Team All-America East honors, and five members of the Union men's lacrosse team were recognized for their strong seasons with All-America honors from the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association and USA Lacrosse Magazine.
