PROVIDENCE, RI – Junior defenseman
Michael Beynon (Nepean, ON) celebrated his 100
th career game with a game-winning score, his second of the season, as the Union College men's hockey team defeated Brown, 5-3, in ECAC Hockey League action at Meehan Auditorium Friday evening. The win extends the Dutchmen's unbeaten streak against the Bears to three games.
Jason Shaffer (Arvada, CO) registered his first career multiple-point game with two assists.
Beynon's game-winning tally came on the power play early in the third period with a slapshot from just inside the top of the left circle.
Mike Schreiber (Sherwood Park, AB) passed across the point to Beynon after accepting a pass from ECACHL leading scorer

Mario Valery-Trabucco (Montreal, QC) struck early for the Dutchmen (12-11-2, 5-8-0 ECACHL), netting his 12
th goal of the season less than three minutes into the game. Valery-Trabucco collected a pass from
Jake Schwan (Clifton Park, NY) around the top of the right circle and skated the puck across the high slot, turning to fire his shot from the top of the left circle past Brown goaltender Dan Rosen's glove. Shaffer
set up Schwan for his first career assist.
Olivier Bouchard (Quebec City, QC) put the Dutchmen up, 2-0, just over two minutes later, snapping a five-game scoreless streak with a power-play tally.
Matt Cook (Belle Mead, NJ) passed from the right circle to
Jason Walters (Renfrew, ON) behind the net. Walters centered to Bouchard, who was planted wide open on the far side of the net. Bouchard one-timed the puck into the open left side of the net for his seventh goal of the season.
Brown (8-8-4, 4-7-2 ECACHL) struck with the man advantage at 17:15 of the first period as Jeff Prough lifted the puck past Union netminder
Justin Mrazek's (Regina, SK) glove for his 11
th goal of the season. Brian McNary and Jeremy Russell set up Prough on the play.
Josh Coyle (Brooklyn, OH) registered his 11
th goal of the season with a power-play score midway through the second period to put Union up, 3-1. The Dutchmen cycled the puck around Rosen, who had lost his stick and picked up that another player. Shaffer took a shot on the goalie, and his rebound bounced amongst several Brown defenders before Coyle collected the puck and roofed it from the lower right circle.
Brown retaliated with a five-on-three power-play score from David Robertson just 18 seconds into the final frame before Beynon lit the lamp for Union.
Mrazek and the Dutchmen killed of a five-on-three Bears advantage late in the period, with Mrazek making five saves from virtually every angle while down two men. Brown kept at it, with Russell netting a blast from the point just seconds after Union returned to full strength.
Lane Caffaro (Slave Lake, AB) added an empty-netter with eight seconds left in the game to seal the win, 5-3.
Mike Harr (Norwood, MA) picked up the assist with a pass around the boards behind the net to Caffaro.
Mrazek made 31 saves, including 15 in the middle frame and 13 in the final period. Rosen made 28 saves for the Bears.
The Dutchmen continue their four-game road trip Saturday night in a 7 p.m. ECACHL game at Yale.
