SCHENECTADY, NY -- While the Union College campus prepares for the return of alumni and families of current students, many Union athletic teams will be performing at home this weekend for Homecoming and Family Weekend.
The first event of the weekend is the women's hockey team's Friday night contest against Sacred Heart at 7 p.m. Union swept the Pioneers at home last season, and continues the home weekend against a strong program from Hockey East, the University of New Hampshire. Game time Saturday at Messa Rink is 4 p.m.
The men's and women's crew teams will host The Head of the Mohawk on Saturday. This event was originally scheduled for October 2 but is now this weekend for alumni and families to catch the Dutchmen and Dutchwomen. The men compete at 11:20 a.m. (Varsity 4), 11:40 a.m. (Novice 8) and 1:45 p.m. (Varsity 8). The women feature the Varsity 4 at 11:20 a.m., the Novice 8 at 11:40 a.m. and the Varsity 8 at 2:10 p.m.
The Dutchmen football team hosts St. Lawrence at Bailey Field Saturday at 1 p.m. Union has a 2-1 Liberty League mark and the Saints are the only undefeated team left in the league at 2-0. This is Union's first home game since September 25.
The women's soccer squad hosts league rival Skidmore at 1 p.m. The Dutchwomen, with an overall record of 11-2, have the most victories of any team in the league.
Union's men's soccer squad looks for revenge after an OT loss at St. Lawrence last weekend. The Dutchmen host the Saints in what will be a non-league game Saturday at 3:30 p.m. These two teams have combined for 17 victories this fall.
