SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Novice 4+ boat captured a conference title to lead the Union College men's crew team to a successful morning on the water at the Liberty League Championships, held on Friday morning at Fish Creek.
 
The Novice 4+ had the highest finish of the day for Union, capturing the fourth conference win for the program since 2004. The boat finished the course in 8:41.03 to easily outpace second-place University of Rochester by over 22 seconds to take home the program's first Novice 4 title. Helmed by first-year Erika Canaveral, the boat was propelled by junior Jack Savage and first-years Nikola Djurovic, Sam Humpert and Ian Porter.
 
The Second Varsity 8+ continued their excellent spring with a fourth-place showing in the final, finishing in 7:21.17 to end up less than six seconds behind Skidmore College in third and nearly 13 seconds ahead of Rochester Institute of Technology in fifth. With senior Charlie Whiteford at the helm, the boat featured junior Cody Morrison (bow), sophomore Reed Will (2 seat), sophomore Wolfgang Bodge (3 seat), first-year Daniel Vega (4 seat), sophomore Kenny Kromer (5 seat), senior Josh Vaidman (6 seat), junior Nick Meyer (7 seat) and senior Miles Fee (stroke).
 
The Varsity 8+ boat finished less than three seconds out of third place in a very competitive race, crossing the finish line fifth just behind both RIT and St. Lawrence University with a time of 7:03.05. Led by senior coxswain Sarah DeRosa, the boat included junior Josh Atkinson (bow); sophomore Angus Hall (2 seat), senior Alex Chan (3 seat), sophomoresTyler Perry (4 seat) and Stuart Livingston (5 seat), and juniors Erik Roberts (6 seat), Ben Stern (7 seat) and Sam Flynn (stroke).
 
The Union men will finish off the 2024-25 season next Sunday against St. Lawrence at Long Lake.
