SCHENECTADY, NY -- Three Union College softball players swept the final Liberty League weekly awards after helping to lead the Dutchwomen to a fourth straight ECAC Division III Upstate Championship at home this past weekend. Senior third baseman Ashley Kovack, senior pitcher Tiffany Ippoliti and freshman designated player Hannah Fandl received honors for their performances in the tournament at Union on May 15-16.

Kovack was named the league's Performer of the Week. She hit two home runs in the championship game, leading Union to a 4-2 win over St. John Fisher and the ECAC Upstate title Sunday. She was named the Co-Most Outstanding Player and was five for nine (.556) with three home runs, five RBIs and five runs scored. It was her first weekly player award of the year.

Ippoliti received the Pitcher of the Week award. She was named the ECAC Upstate Co-Most Outstanding Player as she won two games and also posted a save in her three appearances. She had a 1.40 ERA and struck out 13, including eight in the opening win over Elmira. Ippoliti finished the year with a nine game winning streak and was 17-3 with four saves and a 2.01 ERA. This was Ippoliti's fourth pitcher of the week honor.

Fandl was the Rookie of the Week winner. She had three hits and two RBIs in the Saturday victory over St. John Fisher that propelled Union into the ECAC Upstate title game. She batted .333 in the three games and finished her rookie season with a .325 batting average. This was the second straight week that Fandl was honored.

Union finished 32-8, tying the school single season victories record that was set in 2006 and also achieved in 2008. Along with Kovack and Ippoliti, seniors Ginni Sack and Diana Polli had a four year career record of 123-29 for an 81% winning percentage. During their careers, the Dutchwomen won 12 straight ECAC playoff games during the four year title run.
