SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Union College baseball team fell 10-3 to Williams College on Tuesday in a non-conference contest at Central Park. The Dutchmen, who have eight Liberty League games remaining in the season, move to a 15-16 overall record while the Ephs sit at 11-17.
After the Ephs' Darren Hartwell and Marco Hernandez scored early on in the game, the Dutchmen came back to take a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the third inning. With junior

Tyler Heck doubled to right field to earn an RBI and knot the competition at one. Sophomore
David Peretti then hit a sacrifice fly out to right field, allowing Goetz to score and Heck to advance to third. Another sacrifice fly from sophomore
Vincent Esposito gave Union a two-run advantage as Heck crossed home plate.
Several innings of defensive battle took place before Williams took control in the top of the eighth. Hartwell picked up his second run of the game, while Phil McGovern picked up one of his three RBIs during the offensive surge. Matt Kastner, Ben Olivia, David Webster and McGovern each scored to give the Ephs a 7-3 lead. Kastner, Luke Pierce and K.C. Murphy each had RBIs, as well.
Union bats fell short in the final two innings, and Williams went on to score three more runs to extend the Ephs' lead to 10-3. Dan Grossman earned the win, allowing zero hits and striking out three.
The Dutchmen take on SUNY Plattsburgh on Thursday, April 26
th, at 7:00 p.m., and return to conference play this weekend when Union travels to the University of Rochester.
