SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – The Dutchwomen swimming & diving squad were defeated by Middlebury College 74-221 at Alumni Gymnasium Pool Saturday afternoon.
Anne Trojanowski, the Liberty League Swimmer of the Week was the lone top finisher for Union as she was victorious in the 200-yard freestyle and the 500-yard freestyle, earning times of 1:59.07 of 5:16.88 respectively.
In the 1,000-yard freestyle,
Danielle Proper earned a third place with a time of 11:14.99. Liberty League Rookie of the Week Kenny Brittany also tallied three third place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle, 50-yard butterfly and the 100-yard IM. The freshman clocked in at 2:01.46, 28.67 and 1:04.43 in the three events respectively.
Emily Opolski,
Diana Fletcher and
Rachel Clegg earned three points for Union in the 50-yard backstroke, 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke respectively. Opolski came in with a time of 30 seconds even while Fletcher tallied a 26.36 time. Clegg registered a time of 1:13.75, approximately two seconds off the pace.
On the boards,
Sarah Dimmitt scored a 231.97 in the 1 mtr dive while taking second in the 3 mtr with a score of 244.72.
The quartet of Trojanowski, Fletcher,
Danielle Young and
Janine Cerutti was able to notch a third place finish as well in the 200-yard freestyle relay, clocking in at 1:44.20.
Union will take the road again as they will take on Hamilton College in a dual meet on January 26 beginning at 2:00 p.m.
