SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Diana Fletcher was amongst five seniors honored before their final home meet of the season as the Dutchwomen and Bombers faced off in a dual meet. However, Ithaca was victorious, giving Union a 129-165 defeat at Alumni Gymnasium Pool Saturday afternoon.
Fletcher participated in the 50-yard, 100-yard freestyle, 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard freestyle events as she came away with a runner-up time of 26.12 in the 50-yard freestyle. She also aided the200-yard freestyle relay team in a second place finish along with
Janine Cerutti,
Danielle Young and
Anne Trojanowski with a time of 1:44.44.
The Dutchwomen kicked off the met placing second in the 200-yard medley relay as the quartet of
Emily Opolski,
Rachel Clegg,
Brittany Kenny and
Janine Cerutti compiled a time of 1:58.55.
Madeline Ashworth tallied the first of top finishes for Union in the 1,000-yard freestyle as the junior paced the event with a time of 11:06.08. Teammate Young followed Ashworth with a mark of 11:13.34. Ashworth also came away with a runner-up finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a 5:29.42 time.
Trojanowski also tallied first place finishes, as she was able to capture the top-spot in the 200-yard freestyle. The sophomore registered a time of 1:59.02, just edging out her opponent by a mere .19 seconds. Additionally, she prevailed in the 200-yard butterfly and 500-yard freestyle events with a 2:14.99 and 5:18.72 times respectively, earning the Dutchwomen 27 points in those events.
In the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke, Clegg was victorious as she was clocked in at 1:13.43 and 2:35.16 respectively in the events.
On the boards,
Sarah Dimmitt was able to place second in the 1mtr with a 241.27 score and third in the 3mtr dive with a 254.62 mark.
Kenny added the final first place tally for the Dutchwomen as she paced the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:15.75. Opolski trailed Kenny in the event, earning a runner-up finish with a time of 2:16.22
Union will have approximately two and a half weeks off meets before they compete in the three-day UNYSCSA Championships in Ithaca, N.Y. starting February 20.
