Simpson added his team leading 14th goal of the season at 18:13, putting in his own rebound to put the Dutchmen up 5-1.
Union outshot St. Lawrence 46-20 for the night.

Kyle Bodie put Union up by three goals early in the second period after Union continued to dominate puck possession in the St. Lawrence zone. Gostisbehere fired a slap shot on net that Weninger kicked right to Bodie, who finished into an open net at 3:28.
Grosenick continued his solid play through the second period, stopping the nation's leading goal-scorer, Greg Carey on a wide open wrist shot at the circle on a St. Lawrence power play at 10:34, with sophomore forward
Daniel Ciampini in the penalty box for high sticking. St. Lawrence finished the night 0-for-3 on the man advantage, while Union went 0-for-6 on its power play chances.
The Dutchmen, who sit in a three-way tie for fourth place with 22 points in ECAC Hockey, will await the results of Saturday night in league play to determine if they have a first round bye in the league playoffs.
Union takes on Clarkson tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. on Senior Night at Messa Rink.
