SCHENECTADY, NY -- Union College women's lacrosse junior midfielder
Emily McGrail was named an Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Division III All-American Third Team member, announced Monday morning.
McGrail led the Liberty League in points with 69, and has the most goals in the league with 55. She is third in shots with 104. She led Union in goals, points, shots, game-winners (3), draw controls (54) and was tied for the lead in free position goals (10). She also recorded 31 ground balls. McGrail scored in 16 of the 17 games (including the last 16) and had 10 points vs. Vassar and seven vs. St. Lawrence. She also had 10 shots on goal vs. Vassar. McGrail is 7th in career points at Union with 178, and is the third player to record 150 career goals, entering her senior season with 153. She received a Liberty League Offensive Performer of the Week Award and also was named to the weekly Honor Roll twice this season. DeSimone was a key senior leader on the defense, and started every game for the Dutchwomen. She led Union with 36 ground balls and 25 caused turnovers, and also won 10 draw controls. McGrail was named to the All-Liberty League First Team following the season.
Union completed the 2014 season with a record of 10-7 and reached the Liberty League Championship Game.
