SCHENECTADY, NY -- Union College freshman
Melissa Black has been named this week's ECAC Hockey Women's Goaltender of the Week for her performances in games played through November 1.
Black helped the Dutchwomen post two road ties on their first weekend of league play last weekend. She tallied 58 saves on Friday afternoon at Colgate including 17 in the first and second periods and 24 combined in the third period and extra session. Black followed it by recording a 39-save performance at Cornell the next afternoon. She has now recorded a tie in four of Union's seven games. This is Black's first career weekly honor.
Union returns home to Messa Rink this weekend for ECAC Hockey games against Clarkson Friday night at 7:00 p.m. and St. Lawrence Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m.
