SCHENECTADY, NY - Just a day after the Mayor's Cup, the Union College women's hockey team (4-20-0, 1-11-0 ECAC) will continue the rivalry rich weekend against RPI (8-15-1, 5-7-0 ECAC). The Dutchwomen will host the Engineers on Friday at 6:00 p.m. at Messa Rink while Saturday's matchup will be in Troy, NY at Houston Field House with puck drop scheduled for 3:00 p.m.

What's On Tap

The Dutchwomen are back on the ice this weekend for a two game series with RPI. Union hosts the Engineers on Friday at 6:00 p.m. at Messa Rink.

Last Time Out

With under a minute to play in overtime, the puck popped out to the center stripe. Senior Emily Erickson jumped on it and headed towards the Harvard University net. Her inital shot on goalie Molly Tissenbaum was saved. With Tissenbaum scrambling in front of her net, Katie Laughlin came flying into to get the rebound popping it over the goalie and into the back of the net to give the Union College women's hockey team a 3-2 win in overtime.

This was the Dutchwomen's first ever win in the series with the Crimson.

Caitlyn McLaren would open the scoring in the first off the powerplay at the 2:47 mark.

Later with the Dutchwomen down a goal, an Ava Reynolds shot took a deflection off of Rachel de Perio before finding the back of the net to tie the game at 2-2 in the 2nd.

Kate Spooner had 40 saves to earn her fourth win of the year. She now holds the record for wins by a rookie goalie in Union history.

Scouting the Engineers

Before Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss at Dartmouth, RPI had won three straight games against ECAC opponents in the form of Harvard (3-1), Yale (2-1 (OT)) and Brown (4-3). Four of the top five Engineers' scorers are underclassmen lead by freshman Sabrina Repaci who 13 points (7G 6A) while tallying four of her goals on the powerplay. Goalie Lovisa Selander has started all but two games this season for RPI. The sophomore has recorded eight victories thus far while posting a 2.64 GAA and .915 save percentage.

All-Time vs. RPI Engineers

This is the 34th and 35th meeting all-time between Union and RPI. The Dutchwomen have three wins all-time in the series the last of which came on Oct. 20th, 2012 when Union beat the Engineers 3-2 in Troy, NY. Overall, Union is 3-26-4 in the series which includes an 0-2 record in last year's crosstown series when Union lost 3-0 at Messa Rink and then 2-0 at Houston Field House on Jan. 15-16, 2016. The Dutchwomen will be looking for their first point against the Engineers since Jan. 23, 2015 when the two teams played to a 2-2 tie at Messa Rink. The rivalry series dates back to 2000. Union's first win in the series came on Jan. 27, 2002 when the Dutchwomen grabbed a 1-0 win at Messa Rink.

The Dutchwomen stay home in the Capital Region to play host to nationally ranked Clarkson University and St. Lawrence University. Union plays the Saints on Friday at Messa Rink with puck drop scheduled for 6:00 p.m. On Saturday, the game against Clarkson is set to start at 3:00 p.m.
