PHILADELPHIA, Pa.— The Philadelphia Flyers have extended the contract of former Dutchman Shayne Gostisbehere, as announced by General Manager Ron Hextall.

Gostisbehere's new deal is a reported six-year, $27 million contract.

A Philadelphia third-round selection (78^th overall) in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, Gostisbehere has made 142 career appearance for the Flyers, compiling 24 goals and 61 assists for 85 points. In his rookie season in 2015-16, he scored 17 goals and added 29 assists and was named a finalist for the NHL's Calder Trophy as the league's top rookie. He also produced a 15-game point streak, setting a NHL rookie defenseman record.

The Pembroke Pines, Fla. native also represented Team North America at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.

Gostisbehere was the 2013-14 ECAC Hockey Co-Player of the Year, the 2014 Frozen Four Most Outstanding Player, and a two-time All-America honoree with the Dutchmen, finishing his career with 22 goals and 60 assists in 119 games.
