WACO, Texas – The Union College football team received 123 points and earned the No. 25 spot in the latest American Football Coaches Association Division III Coaches' Poll.
The Dutchmen are 5-0 on the season and hold a 2-0 record in conference, coming off a 49-17 win at Rochester this past Saturday, Oct. 12. Union joins Chapman as the second newcomer in the poll this week.
The ranking is the first time the Dutchmen have been ranked in the top 25 since September 14, 2009, when the Dutchmen were ranked 22nd in the D3football.com national poll.
In the D3football.com Top 25 poll for the week of Oct. 14, Union received 43 points to sit just two spots outside the top 25.
Headed into the week, Union is one of 23 remaining unbeaten teams in Division III. The Dutchmen rank sixth in Division III in total defense, allowing an average of 207.4 yards per game, while also ranking fifth in interceptions (11), eighth in passing yards allowed (129.4 yds/gm), and 13th in scoring defense (11.4 ppg allowed).
Union hosts St. Lawrence this Saturday, Oct. 19, for Homecoming and Family Weekend. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. (ET) at Frank Bailey Field at Bertagna-Class of 1985 Stadium.
