CANTON, N.Y. – The Union College women's golf team broke the school's two-day scoring record with a weekend round of 669 at the St. Lawrence Invitational, held at the Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course on Saturday and Sunday.
The Dutchwomen followed up yesterday's 334 with a 335 on Sunday, putting together two of the four lowest single-round scores in program annals. Union finished sixth in the very competitive nine-team field, 29 strokes back of fifth-place Ithaca College and 51 strokes ahead of seventh-place Nazareth College. Defending national champion New York University took first place with a two-day score of 581.
Junior
Lisa Spagnuolo was Union's top scorer on the weekend, taking 17th place with rounds of 78 and 84. After tying the program single-round record yesterday, the junior finished the weekend fourth on the school's two-day scoring list.
Senior
Molly Wiener also had a very good weekend for the Dutchwomen, following up yesterday's 78 with an 85 today to finish one stroke back of Spagnuolo at 163. That total is good for fifth on the school's two-day scoring list.
Sophomore
Ashley Harding had the best round of the day for Union on Sunday, carding a career-best round of 79 that is one stroke off the school record and tied for fifth on the single-round list. Following up on yesterday's 90, Harding finished in a tie for 27th place at 169.
Junior
Juls Sweet also had two solid rounds for Union on the weekend, shooting an 87 today after an 88 yesterday to place 31st with a 175.
Union will be back on the course next weekend, taking part in the William Smith Invitational on Saturday and Sunday.
