Athletic Facilities to Open for Winter 2021 Term

The Union College Department of Athletics is pleased to welcome students back to indoor athletic facilities beginning Saturday, January 30. This weekend's hours are listed below:

Alumni Gym / Breazzano Fitness Center (Max Occupancy 30)
Saturday - Sunday: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. - 8 p.m. (closed for cleaning 2-3 p.m.) 

This Saturday and Sunday, students must register for 50-minute time slots in advance (by 9 a.m. each day) via this link. Walk-ins will only be permitted during these times if the facility is not at full capacity. In order to maintain appropriate distance and avoid crowding, no more than 30 visitors will be allowed to use the fitness center at any one time, including no more than 15 in the downstairs free weight area at any one time. 

Memorial Fieldhouse (Max Occupancy 25)
Saturday - 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Sunday: 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.

Messa Rink (Max Occupancy 12)
Saturday: 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Sunday: 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Facility hours and additional information for Alumni Gym, Viniar Athletic Center, Memorial Fieldhouse, and Messa Rink for the remainder of the Winter 2021 Term can be found here. All facility hours are subject to change, so please visit our website for the most up-to-date schedules. Outdoor athletic facilities remain open for socially distanced use, with masks.

By utilizing any Union College athletic facility, all parties agree to follow all proper protocols for use, including but not limited to:

  • Wearing a mask properly at all times (see below for acceptable face coverings).
  • Maintaining a 6-foot distance.
  • Washing or sanitizing hands before and after use of equipment.
  • Following the College's wayfinding signage and complying with directions provided regarding modified or restricted equipment use.
  • Displaying a green emocha badge for the current day.
  • Staying home if signs or symptoms of COVID-19 are experienced.

Acceptable face coverings for COVID-19 include, but are not limited to, cloth-based face coverings and disposable masks appropriate for exercise that cover both the mouth and nose. Bandanas, buffs, and gaiters are not acceptable face coverings for use in gyms and fitness centers per New York State guidelines. 

All Union athletic facilities will be supervised by college staff members in order to ensure proper protocols are being followed. Individuals who do not follow the guidelines may be asked to leave the facility.
