SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Union men's hockey assistant coach,
TJ Manastersky, was named an assistant coach for Hungary in the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship hosted in Asiago, Italy.
"It's an honor to be asked to contribute to the Hungarian Ice Hockey Federation and the National Under-18 team," said Manastersky. "I'm thankful for the support from Union College. Hockey continues to grow worldwide and the player pool is as deep as it has ever been. I am confident that I will learn from the terrific coaching staff and players in Hungary and the competing nations, which will make me a better coach."
Aside from serving as an assistant coach with Hungary's Division I B team, Manastersky will also be serving as a mentor coach for the Hungarian Ice Hockey Federation, engaging in presentations and professional development.
Don MacAdam, the Development Director for the Hungarian Ice Hockey Federation, and Bence Svasznek, the Head Coach for the U18 men's team, invited Manastersky to be part of their coaching staff.
The tournament will take place from April 25 through May 1. Joining Hungary in the tournament are Austria, Italy, Slovenia, Poland, and Ukraine. Hungary will open the tournament against Slovenia on Monday, April 25 at 10:00 a.m. EST.
