POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Union College women's track and field team competed on day two of the Liberty League Championship on Saturday afternoon from Prentiss Sports Complex. The Dutchwomen finished in seventh place with 24 points. There were two events that qualified for the AARTFC.
The 4 x 400m relay team qualified for the All-Atlantic Regional Track and Field Championship with their time of 4:06.61 to finish third in the race. The team was sophomore
Alayna Gibson and first-years
Catherine Dacey,
Marley Froe and
Gabby Baker. This time was a new best for the group this season.
Junior
Denesha Lafontant finished the women's triple jump in fifth place. Lafontant jumped a distance of 10.45m. Sophomore
Caroline Stanton finished in fifth place in high jump with a height of 1.48m. This height was a new season best fir Stanton whose previous best was 1.43m.
First-year
Catherine Dacey qualified for the All-Atlantic Regional Track and Field Championship with her time of 4:52.99 in the women's 800m run. Dacey placed sixth in the race and gained three points for the women.
Junior
Leila Warde finished in seventh place for the Dutchwomen in the 400m hurdles. Warde ran a 1:11.45 in the final after qualifying for the race today, with a 1:11.20. Warde added two points for the Dutchwomen on day two.
Classmate
Kasey McGerald placed eight in the women's 800m dash with a time of 2:23.35. McGerald ran a 2:19.81 in the preliminaries to get into the final before running the 2:23.35.
The 4 x 100m relay team finished in seventh place with a 52.49. The team consisted of senior
Steph Heiberger, Stanton, Baker, and Froe. The team hit a new season best by about a half second with their time today.
This meet calls an end to the season for the majority of the Dutchwomen. The ones that qualified for the AARTFC will have on more meet on Wednesday, May 18 and Thursday, May 19.
