Chauvette Earns MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week Honors

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. – After setting the Union College men's hockey team's single-game saves record and backstopping the team to a weekend split, sophomore goaltender Kyle Chauvette was named the MAC Goaltending Goalie of the Week, ECAC Hockey announced on Monday morning.

Chauvette made 62 saves on Saturday to set the program's single-game saves record, eclipsing the previous record of 61 saves set by Wayne McDougall on March 16, 1984. The Goffstown, N.H. native made 98 total stops across both games this weekend.

Chauvette made a career-high 36 saves in Friday's win over the Huskies, before turning in a 62-save performance the following night.

This is the second award for the sophomore netminder this season. Chauvette was previously recognized on October 9 for his shutout performance at Army West Point.

Union will enjoy a bye week this week before getting back on the ice to host Capital Region Rival Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Friday, November 3. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Messa Rink.
