SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Senior Wyatt Goldfisher and junior Lucas Montalto of the Union College men's soccer team were recognized for their contributions on the field and success in the classroom with spots on the 2024 Academic All-District Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators and announced on Tuesday.
 
To be nominated for College Sports Communicators (formerly CoSIDA) Academic All-District honors, student-athletes must compete in 90 percent of or start at least 66 percent of an institution's matches, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher, and reach sophomore athletic and academic standing at the school. Academic All-District honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, the results of which will be announced in December.
 
Goldfisher is recognized on the Academic All-District team for the third straight season after tying for second on the team in goals as a senior, netting three goals with one assist for seven points. He started 10 matches and appeared in all 19 in his final year, scoring the game-winning goal against Elmira College and also assisting on the winner versus Albany Pharmacy. In 53 career matches for Union, the forward scored 10 goals with six assists for 26 points.
 
Montalto is a first-time honoree after appearing in 18 matches with seven starting assignments as a junior. The midfielder scored two goals in Union's Senior Day victory over Clarkson University to end the season and ranked seventh on the team in shots. He has four goals and two assists for 10 points in 36 matches over his first three years with the team.
 
With the two honorees, Union student-athletes have now earned 229 Academic All-District honors since 2001. The men's soccer team ranks fourth among all Union programs with 22 honorees over that span.
