LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – Tickets for the ECAC Hockey Men's and Women's Championships at the Olympic Center in Lake Placid are on sale now. The final four men's and women's teams will meet in the 1980 Herb Brooks Arena for the semifinal and championship games with an automatic bid to the NCAA Division I tournament and the ECAC Hockey Championship on the line.

WHAT'S AT STAKE
Both 12-team ECAC Hockey tournaments begin with a single-game format for seeds 5-12 (women's, followed by best-of-three quarterfinal matchups March 14-16. The first two rounds are played at respective schools based on seeding in the tournament. The four teams that qualify for the semifinal round earn a spot in Lake Placid, with the winner receiving an automatic entry into the 16-team NCAA tournament that determines the Division I national champion.
LAST SEASON
Cornell men's hockey team captured its league-best 14th ECAC Tournament title last season, beating Clarkson in a 3-2 overtime victory in the championship game to earn the Whitelaw Trophy. The Big Red downed top seeded Quinnipiac 3-2 in the semifinal round in Lake Placid while Clarkson advanced with a 4-1 win over Dartmouth. Cornell went on to beat #1 Michigan State in the first round of the NCAA tournament then lost 3-2 to Boston University in the Toledo Regional final.
The No. 3 Cornell women's ice hockey team defeated the no. 5 Colgate Raiders 5-1 at Lynah Rink to claim its first ECAC Hockey Championship since 2013-14. Cornell went on to earn a Frozen Four Bid after a 1-0 win over Minnesota-Duluth, eventually losing 4-2 to Ohio State in the semifinals.
HISTORY
The ECAC Hockey men's tournament began in 1962 with the championships held at Boston Garden each year until 1993 when it moved to Lake Placid. The 2026 tournament marks the 22nd Championship to be hosted at the Olympic Center. Cornell has won the most ECAC Hockey men's tournament titles with 14, followed by Harvard with 11. No other program in the league's history has won more than seven tournament trophies. On September 24, the league announced that the Women's Championship will move to historic Lake Placid, N.Y., beginning with the 2025-26 season.
