Buhr's Torrid Month Garners Him ECAC Hockey Honors

DANBURY, Conn. – Union College men's hockey senior Brandon Buhr won his first ECAC Hockey Forward of the Month award, presented by Bluebird Hotels, the league announced Thursday afternoon.

Buhr scored eight goals and recorded four assists throughout November for a team-high 12 points. He leads the Garnet Chargers on the season with 12 goals and 18 points.

Union's leading scorer found the back of the net in all five of his team's wins in November. The highlight of Buhr's award-winning month came on Nov. 14 against UMass Lowell when he notched his third career hat trick. The North Vancouver native potted all three of his goals in the second period, twice on the power play, and capped his night off with a penalty shot.

His natural hat trick came in the middle of an even more impressive feat, as he strung together three consecutive games with three points each. He became the first player in NCAA Division I men's hockey to have three straight games with three points this season and was the first Garnet Charger to do so since Olivier Bouchard '07 from Oct. 14 - Oct. 28, 2005.

Buhr posted two game-winning goals in November and is in a tie with Scott Seney '06 for the sixth-most game-winning goals in Union's Division-I history.

Buhr is tied with Dartmouth's Nathan Morin and Quinnipiac's Chris Pelosi for the league lead in game winners this season with three. His six power-play goals are the third most in the country, and his 12 goals are the fourth-most in DI.

Buhr and the Garnet Chargers host Princeton on Friday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. and #8 Quinnipiac on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 5 p.m.
