Muthersbaugh Named to ECAC Hockey All-Rookie Team

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – First-year Ben Muthersbaugh of the Union College men's hockey team was named to the ECAC Hockey All-Rookie Team, the conference announced on Monday.

Muthersbaugh appeared in all 34 games as a first year and is tied for second in team scoring with 28 points (13-15-28). The first-year is in a three-way tie for third in ECAC Hockey scoring among rookies with 16 points (8-8-16) in league play. His eight goals in conference play tie him for second among first-year players.

Muthersbaugh's 13 goals and 28 points are both the most by a Union rookie since Mike Vecchione '17 had 14 goals and 20 assists for 34 points in 2013-14.

The New Hampshire native was honored earlier this season by the league as the October Forward of the Month and Rookie of the Month. The first-year earned three weekly honors from ECAC Hockey this season for his performance on the ice. He also was named the Hockey Coaches Association Rookie of the Month in October.

Union returns to action on Friday night for the ECAC Hockey Quarterfinals against Dartmouth College. Puck drop for game one of the best-of-three series is set for 7:00 p.m. at Messa Rink.
