NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The Union College men's crew team took part in the Novak Memorial Metropolitan Championships on Saturday morning on the Long Island Sound, battling against Division I and III competition.
The men's novice 4+ boat started the day for Union, finishing third in their heat with a time of 8:17.16 to earn a spot in the final, where the Garnet Chargers placed sixth overall. The boat consisted of first-year

Ian Porter,
Nikola Djurovic and
Sam Humpert, and junior
Jack Savage.
The varsity 8+ boat finished their heat in 6:54.89 to earn a spot in the final, where the Union nine shaved off nearly two seconds to place sixth overall with a time 6:52.98. Coxswained by senior
Sarah DeRosa, the boat included junior
Josh Atkinson (bow); sophomores
Angus Hall (2 seat),
Wolfgang Bodge (3 seat),
Tyler Perry (4 seat) and
Stuart Livingston (5 seat); and juniors

In the men's second varsity 8+ race, Union placed fourth out of five teams by finishing in 7:04.64. In the boat with senior coxswain
