Iyene Essien picked up a second straight Liberty League Player of the Week honor while first-years
Ellie Innes and
Shea Ringel were recognized as Rookies of the Week and four others earned honor-roll mention for the week ending on September 7, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon.
Women's Golf Player of the Week: Iyene Essien
Essien earned her second straight weekly honor after tying for first place out of 35 golfers at the St. Lawrence Fall Invitational, carding rounds of one-over 73 and six-over 78 to finish the weekend at 151. Her 73 on Saturday was the second-best round in program history, while her weekend score matches the program two-day scoring record that she previously achieved on two occasions as a first-year.
Field Hockey Rookie of the Week: Ellie Innes
Innes recorded a team-leading nine points in two wins over the weekend, scoring four goals and adding an assist. She netted the first two goals of her career in Friday's win over SUNY Morrisville, then came back the next day with two more goals and an assist for a season-high five points in a win over Russell Sage.
Women's Volleyball Rookie of the Week: Shea Ringel
Ringel had a fantastic week at the net for Union, hitting .389 with 47 kills (4.7 kps) on 90 attempts and adding 23 digs and two blocks in leading Union to a 3-0 weekend. After starting off with 11 kills and six digs in a three-set sweep of Russell Sage on Friday, Ringel put down a team-leading 36 kills on .469 hitting in seven sets on Saturday, averaging over five kills per set. She went for 18 kills and a season-best 14 digs for her first collegiate double-double in a sweep of Mount St. Mary, then had 18 kills again later in the day in a 3-1 victory over SUNY New Paltz.

Field Hockey: Maddie Greco
Greco scored four goals in less than 37 minutes of action in two Union wins over SUNY Morrisville and Russell Sage over the weekend, including both game-winning goals. The junior All-American scored twice in 25 minutes against the Mustangs on Friday, including the first goal of the game 4:14 into the contest. She needed less than 12 minutes to score twice against the Gators on Saturday, netting the first and third goals of the contest before sitting for the entirety of the second half.
Field Hockey: Tess Parker
Parker made the most of her minutes in three games last week, turning aside 14 shots and allowing only one goal in 75:00 of work over three games. She came on in relief to keep Union in the game on Wednesday against #4 Williams, making eight saves and allowing only one goal over the final three periods. She started and played the first period in two blowout wins over the weekend, making five saves in the first period against SUNY Morrisville.
Football: Patch Flanagan
Flanagan threw for a career-high 328 yards and two touchdowns in Union's season-opener at #4/5 Susquehanna on Saturday. He threw a program-record 99-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter to tie the score early on and finished the game 16-of-32 against one of the nation's top teams.
Women's Volleyball: Allie Kronenberg
Kronenberg filled up the stat sheet in Union's 3-0 weekend, recording 88 assists (9.8 aps), 15 digs, seven kills and six blocks in nine sets. She became the fourth-fastest player in program history to reach 1,000 career assists in Friday's 3-0 win over Russell Sage, recording 38 assists (12.7 aps) to go with two kills, two blocks and five digs. She had 14 assists in limited action against Mount St. Mary, then came back with 36 assists, six digs, four blocks and three kills in a four-set win over SUNY New Paltz.
