Rhéaume Named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. – Emma Rhéaume of the Union College Women's Hockey team was named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday morning.

Rhéaume posted a 43-save shutout in a 1–0 win against Dartmouth on Friday night, securing her third shutout of the season. Her three shutouts are tied for first in the program's single-season record book and rank second all-time.

Her other two shutouts came against the University of Delaware on November 29 and Franklin Pierce University in her collegiate debut on September 27.

Rhéaume became the first Union first-year goaltender to record a shutout in their collegiate debut. Her shutout, along with junior goaltender Monja Wagner's shutout on Friday, September 26, against Franklin Pierce, marked the first time in program history that Union goaltenders recorded back-to-back shutouts.

Through 13 games this season, Rhéaume has posted a .919 save percentage, ranking fourth in single-season program history and third all-time. Her 2.79 goals-against average (minimum of 750 minutes played) ranks fifth in the single-season record book.

Rhéaume and the Union Women's Hockey team travel to the North Country to face fifth seed (and 12th nationally ranked) Clarkson in the opening round of the ECAC Hockey Playoffs on Friday afternoon, marking Union's second postseason appearance in program history. Puck drop is set for 3 p.m.
