CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. – Senior
Amanda Quan of the Union College Women's Hockey team was named a Mandi-Schwartz Scholar-Athlete Nominee, as announced by the ECAC Hockey conference Monday afternoon.
The prestigious award is presented annually to an ECAC women's hockey student-athlete in memory and honor of Mandi Schwartz, a Yale women's hockey player who passed away in 2011 after a two-year battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. The honor recognizes a student-athlete who embodies Schwartz's excellence and leadership on the ice, in the classroom, and within the community.
Nominees are selected by their school's administration and coaching staff and must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale through the fall term or semester, while also participating in a minimum of 50 percent of their team's games.
Quan is a high-achieving student-athlete who completed the fall term with a perfect 4.0 GPA and currently holds a 3.57 cumulative GPA. During her junior year, she earned a 3.8 GPA and was named to Union College's Dean's List, an honor awarded to students who achieve at least a 3.50 GPA for the entire academic year.
In her junior season, Quan was also named an AHCA All-American Scholar, an honor recognizing collegiate ice hockey players who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement. The award requires a minimum 3.75 GPA each semester while participating in at least 40 percent of the team's games.
Quan is a three-time ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team honoree, an award given to student-athletes who maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher on a 4.00 scale, or a GPA of at least 3.00 over the previous three semesters.
In addition to her academic accolades, Quan was inducted into Omicron Delta Epsilon, the International Honor Society of Economics—one of the world's largest and most prestigious honor societies in the field. Inductees must hold a minimum overall GPA of 3.35, complete between 12 and 18 credit hours in economics coursework, and earn at least a 3.35 GPA within the discipline.

She also volunteered with Union's Chabad, preparing challah for weekly Sabbath services that were distributed to members of the local community. Additionally, Quan is a member of Union's Women in Economics Club in which members offer mentorship to underclassmen to give guidance on courses, internships, and extra opportunities.
On the ice, Quan has been a consistent impact player throughout her collegiate career. She has appeared in 109 games, totaling nine goals and nine assists for 18 points, while contributing in key moments for the Garnet Chargers.
