WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Union College women's golf team finished a rainy weekend at the Williams Fall Invitational with a team score of 338 and a 13th-place finish on Sunday's second day at Taconic Golf Club.
Union shaved nine strokes off yesterday's score with a 338 on Sunday, but the Garnet Chargers were unable to move up the leaderboard and finished 13th with a two-day score of 685. WGCA #5 Middlebury College earned top honors with a two-day score of 598, one stroke ahead of #8 Williams.
Junior
Iyene Essien had the team's best round of the weekend on Sunday, carding a five-over 76 to finish in a tie for 25th place at 156. She had two birdies over her first nine holes on day two to get off to a good start, and then closed with seven pars over her last eight holes.
First-year
Casey Mack posted an 83 on Sunday to finish in a tie for 53rd place with a 168, recording only two scores higher than bogey on day two. Junior
Carinna Anastasio finished in 67th place after a round of 91 on Sunday gave her a weekend 179, and she was followed close behind by sophomores
Emma Doherty (100-88-188) and
Claire Giletta (94-96-190) in 70th and 71st place, respectively.
Union will close out the fall season next weekend at the Wesleyan Fall Invitational, held on Saturday and Sunday at Silver Spring Country Club.
