MYERS, FLMelissa Marra's two-out single in the bottom of the seventh inning helped sophomore pitcher Abby Arceneaux pick up her third win of the young season as Union defeated Lawrence, 2-1, in a women's softball game. The Dutchwomen committed six errors in the second game, a 2-1 loss to Southern Maine, to fall to 5-1 on the third day of their annual spring trip.
The Mechanicville High School duo of Marra and Arceneaux combined to produce the first game's final run as it was Arseneaux who singled and eventually scored on Marra's hit. Arseneaux finished with 12 strikeouts while sophomore outfielder Julie Gawronski provided the Dutchwomen's other run with a run-scoring double in the fourth.
Sophomore pitcher Jackie Coffey picked up the loss in the second game despite allowing just five hits and fanning six. She did not allow an earned run and was two-for-three at the plate.
