Arceneaux and Coffey lead Dutchwomen's sweep, 5-0 and 6-1

FT MYERS, FLSophomore pitchers Abby Arceneaux and Jackie Coffey combined to strike out 15 batters while giving up just one run on 11 hits as Union's softball team improved to 7-1 with a pair of spring trip victories.

Arceneaux picked up her fourth win with a four-hit, eight-strikeout shutout as the Dutchwomen defeated Plymouth State, 5-0, in the opener. Coffey improved to 3-1 with a seven-hitter that included seven strike outs in the Garnet's 6-1 win over Fredonia State in the nitecap. Coffey's only loss was a 2-1 decision to Lawrence in a game that saw the Dutchwomen commit six errors.

Freshman Colleen White continued her hot hitting as she belted her second home run of the trip, a two-run shot in the third inning. White also knocked in a run with a single in the fifth. Arceneaux contributed a pair of singles to the Dutchwomen's eight-hit attack.

White led Union's offense in the second game as she picked up two of the Dutchwomen's 10 hits, scored twice, and drove in a run. Arceneaux also picked up a pair of hits and scored twice.
