Dutchwomen end Spring trip with an 8-2 record following twin bill split

FT. MYERS, FLThe Dutchwomen ended their spring trip with a split of their doubleheader to give them a program-record 8-2 mark. In the first game, Wisconsin-Whitewater rallied from a 4-0 deficit to defeat Union, 7-6. The second contest saw the Dutchwomen rally with a two-run seventh inning then come up with a run in the last of the eighth to defeat Colby, 7-6.

Abby Arceneaux rapped a two-out, two-run single in the last of the seventh against Colby to tie the game at 6-6 before Katie Ratner's bases load hit with no outs in the eighth won it for the Dutchwomen. Sophomore pitcher Jackie Coffey picked up her fourth win in five outings on the trip by allowing seven hits and just three earned runs.

Trailing 4-0 after four innings, Lori Canyon highlighted a five-run fifth for Whitewater as she belted a grand slam home run against Arceneaux, who picked up her first loss after opening the season with four victories. Julie Gawronski belted a solo home run for Union while freshman Colleen White connected for her third four-bagger of the trip, a two-run shot in the fourth.
