Box Score

SCHENECTADY, N.Y.Sophomore pitchers Abby Arceneaux and Jackie Coffey once again turned in outstanding mound performances as Union swept a doubleheader from Hartwick, 9-1 and 5-0, on Alexander Field.

The twin win improves the Dutchwomen's overall record to 17-3 while Hartwick fell to 5-15.

Arceneaux, who earlier in the day was named the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association's "Pitcher of the Week", went into the game against the Hawks with a string of 28 consecutive scoreless innings. She blanked Hartwick through four innings before the Hawks finally broke through with a run in the fifth (the game was called because of the eight-run mercy rule). Arceneaux, last year's UCAA "Rookie of the Year" went into the contest with an earned run average of 1.31. Her two-hitter lifted her season record to 9-1 and improved her career standard to 22-5.

Sophomore centerfielder Julie Gawronski got the Dutchwomen's offense off and running when she belted her fifth home run of the season giving her 10 for her career. Arseneaux, who went into the contest as the Garnet's second-leading hitter with her .397 average, had a double, single, and two rbi to help her own cause.

Freshman second sacker Colleen White, who was hitting .328 with a team-high 12 rbi prior to the contest, added two more hits, including a run-scoring single, to her totals.

Coffey, whose two losses are by identical 2-1 scores, improved her season standard to 8-2 while tossing her second shutout of the season. Coffey, who entered the game with an earned run average of 1.50, allowed just two hits to pick up her 19th career win after posting an 11-0 mark during her rookie season.

Sophomore Erika Eisenhut stroked three hits, stole a base and drove in a run to lead the Dutchwomen's 12-hit attack.
