Arceneaux and Coffey pitch Union past Rochester, 1-0 & 5-0

Sophomore pitchers Abby Arceneaux and Jackie Coffey each pitched a shutout as Union swept an Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association doubleheader from the University of Rochester, 1-0 and 5-0.

Arceneaux was also hitting star for the Dutchwomen, now 19-3 overall and 5-1 in the conference. The Mechanicville, New York, native belted a solo home run (which was her first career at any level) in the opener and drove in three runs in the nitecap, two on a triple in the fifth inning. Arceneaux, who is now 10-1 on the season, allowed only two hits, fanned 13 and did not give up a walk.

Coffey improved her record to 9-2 (20-2 for her career) with a nine-strikeout, five-hit performance. Beth Carcone doubled in a run while Erika Eisenhut had two hits and an rbi. She also had two stolen bases in the two games.

Rochester is now 1-3 in the conference, 9-17 overall.
