Box Score SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y.Cory Spicer and Eric Giovannone each pitched a complete game and Adam Chused accounted for three runs in the first game and one in the second as Union swept an Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association doubleheader from Skidmore, 7-2 and 3-1. The twin win gives the Dutchmen a conference record of 6-4 and an overall record of 12-11 under first-year head coach Jeremy Rivenburg.
Spicer, a sophomore, scattered 10 hits in the opener while allowing the Thoroughbreds (12-19 overall and 2-8 in the conference) to score both of their runs in the last of the seventh. The Dutchmen, meanwhile, got a pair of hits, including a home run, and rbis from Chused. Dan Mehleisen, Cliff Eisenhut and Mike Flanagan also picked up run-scoring hits for Union.
Giovannone, a freshman, gave up just three hits in nine innings and allowed an unearned run while striking out 11 and walking three. Chused contributed a run-scoring hit for the Dutchmen as did Eisenhut and Ben Brown.
The win was the third-straight for Union, which has won five of its last six contests.
