Box ScoreCLINTON, N.Y. -- Union senior starter John Gallagher (Etna, NH/Hanover) did not allow an earned run in five innings, but Hamilton scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth for a 6-5 victory over Union in a non-league game at Royce Field Tuesday.
The Continentals improved to 7-20 on the season while the Dutchmen fell to 8-19 overall.
The senior righthander gave up just one hit while walking three and was staked to a 4-1 lead after five. The Continentals trailed 5-2 into the bottom of the eighth but scored three unearned runs off reliever Mike Donovan (Trumbull, CT/Trumbull), the third Union pitcher of the day.
Second baseman Ben Brown (Brookline, NH/Bishop Guertin) was 2 for 4 with three RBIs for Union, while Seth Weinberg (Scarsdale, NY/Scarsdale) also had two hits and drove in a run. Adam Lavallee had three hits and Pat McGarry added two more for Hamilton, which outhit the Dutchmen, 8-7.
Union will return to Liberty League play Friday, with a doubleheader at Clarkson at 1:30 p.m. This league twinbill is a makeup for the postponement from April 23.
