FT. MYERS, FL -- Sophomore catcher Catherine Kielb (Renssealer, NY/Columbia) had two hits and two RBIs in both wins as the Union softball team defeated both Lasell and New England College Tuesday.  The Dutchwomen, 4-0 on the young season, downed the Lasers 13-0, then defeated the Pilgrims, 7-4.

The Dutchwomen defeated Lasell in a game that ended after five innings due to the score. Senior pitcher Abby Arceneaux (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) allowed just one hit while walking two and striking out six for her second win in two days. Union had 11 hits in the win over the Lasers, and scored in every inning. The Dutchwomen led 3-0 after two, then put the game away with four in the third, and three runs each in the fourth and fifth innings.

Arceneaux also helped her cause with two RBIs while batting in the leadoff spot. Three players scored two runs each, Megan Kaknis (New Windsor, NY/NFA), Beth Carcone (Utica, NY/New Hartford) and Megan Bordino (New Paltz, NY/New Paltz).

In the second game of the day, Julie Gawronski (Dunkirk, NY/Dunkirk) had three hits and Kaitlin Graham (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) drove in two runs for the Dutchwomen. Erika Eisenhut (Mohawk, NY/Mohawk) scored two runs. Jackie Coffey (Boston, MA/Boston Latin) improved to 2-0 with a complete game win. She have up eight hits, two earned runs, walked two and struck out two.

Union will play night games Tuesday, with contests scheduled against Kalamazoo at 6 p.m. and Chicago at 8 p.m.
