FT. MYERS, FL -- The Union softball team remained undefeated, pulling out a walk-off victory against Southern Maine, then defeating Worcester State. The Dutchwomen downed Southern Maine, 4-3 and defeated State, 11-2, to improve to 9-0 on the season.

Senior pitcher Abby Arceneaux (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) was the hero in the opener against the Huskies. She hit a two-RBI double in the bottom of the seventh to erase a 3-2 deficit and lead Union to the comeback victory. She got the victory by allowing seven hits, two earned runs and no walks while striking out six in seven innings. Arceneaux had another hit earlier in the game, and drove in four Dutchwomen for the contest.

In the second game of the day, Union scored three in the top of the first and never looked back, with an 11-2 triumph over the Lancers. Jackie Coffey (Boston, MA/Boston Latin) got the complete game victory with a five-hitter, walking one and striking out 10 while allowing two earned runs in the seven innings. Catherine Kielb (Rensselaer, NY/Columbia) had three hits and two RBIs and also scored two runs for the Dutchwomen. Bridget Graham (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) hit an inside-the-park home run and wound up with two RBIs for the game.

Union will play Bowdoin Friday morning at 9 a.m. to wrap up their season opening week in Florida. The home opening date is Friday, March 31 against Mount St. Mary at 7 p.m.
