ONEONTA, NY -- SUNY Oneonta pulled out an extra inning 5-4 win in the opener and took the nightcap, 11-0 over Union in a non-league baseball doubleheader at Red Dragon Field Sunday. The Dutchmen fell to 7-21 on the year while Oneonta improved to 28-8 for the year.

In the first game, like the second scheduled for seven innings, the Red Dragons won it in the bottom of the eighth as Ryan Myers singled in Jake Wasiewlewski from second (who had reached on an error).

Kyle Murphy (Plymouth, MA/Phillips Academy) had three hits for the Dutchmen in the first game, and Zack Tillo (Lancaster, MA/Exeter) also had three hits and drove in two runs. Two of Tillo's hits were doubles. Shawn Johnston (Hamilton, NJ/The Peddie School) added two hits for the Dutchmen, who had 11 hits for the contest. Reliever Josh McKelligan (Canton, MA/Salisbury) took the loss, giving up the one unearned run and two hits in two innings. Starter Brian McLaughlin (Norwood, NJ/Old Tappan) gave up eight hits and struck out three in 5 2/3 innings.

Oneonta was led by Chris Brew, who had three hits from the leadoff spot, and the Red Dragons had 10 hits for the game. Greg Funck, the third of three Red Dragon pitchers, improved to 3-0 with the win, allowing two hits and striking out two in two innings.

The Red Dragons broke open a scoreless game with seven runs in the fourth en route to the win in the second game. Thomas Colt had two hits, both doubles, and two RBIs and Chris Salamida had two hits for the Red Dragons, which had 11 hits for the game. Union was held to four hits by Erik Weber, who went all seven innings and struck out six with one walk. He allowed one extra base hit, a double by Murphy. Union starter Matt Sheehan (Lexington, MA/Belmont Hill) took the loss, giving up four hits in 3 2/3 innings.

Union hosts Hamilton for a single game at Central Park Tuesday at 4 p.m.
