SCHENECTADY, NY -- Host Union, led by junior Rachel Ormsby (Charlton, NY), won the 2007 Liberty League/SUNYAC Volleyball Tournament at home. The Dutchwomen went 4-0 in the challenge that was held at the Viniar Athletic Center and Memorial Fieldhouse. Full results and highlights follow.

UNION 3, POTSDAM 0
The Union College Dutchwomen cruised past SUNY Potsdam by winning three games to zero. Union won by scores of 30-21, 30-24, and 31-29. The win improved Dutchwomen to a record of 19-6. Rachel Ornsby (Charlton, NY) led Union with 10 kills. Fellow juniors Julie LaSpina (Roslyn Heights, NY) and Erin Schumaker (Saratoga Springs, NY) chipped in with six kills each. Veronica Mynders (Port Jervis, NY) turned in another outstanding defensive performance in recording 16 digs. Sophomore Jennifer Merinder (Andover, MA) was also very consistent in by recording 13 digs and dishing out 27 assists. Potsdam was led by Allison Pepe (Amsterdam, NY) with 12 kills. Kim Plummer (Horseheads, NY) played very well for the bears in her 31 assist performance.

SKIDMORE 3, NEW PALTZ 1
Skidmore bounced back after losing the first game to the Hawks, and took three in a row for a 3-1 victory with scores of 22-30, 30-27, 30-22, and 30-12. Skidmore improved to 18-7, while New Paltz fell to 18-9. Skidmore was led by junior Erica Duncan (San Francisco, CA) and freshman Becca Ornsby (Charlton, NY). Duncan recorded 19 kills and 18 digs for the Thoroughbreds, while Ornsby posted an astounding 48 assists and 15 digs. Murray Koch (Palo Alto, CA) also stood tall as she recorded 13 kills, 3 aces, and 10 digs of her own. Ketie Becofsky (Altamont, NY) posted 35 assists for the Hawks, while Lauren Hogue (Burnt Hills, NY) added 11 kills and 10 digs in the Hawks loss.
CLARKSON 3, POTSDAM 1
Clarkson won its third match of the tournament in posting a 3-1 win over Potsdam to bolster the record to 16-10, while Potsdam dropped to 10-18. Clarkson won by scores of 30-26, 24-30, 30-28, and 30-22. Clarkson was led by freshman Alison Schroeder (Webster, NY) who tied her previous career high with 32 digs. Potsdam was led by Jamie Kraus (New Paltz, NY), who issued 16 kills and freshman Shayna Stewart (Carlisle, NY) who had 37 assists in the match.
SKIDMORE 3, St. LAWRENCE 0
Skidmore improved its record to 19-7 in defeating St. Lawrence 3-0. Skidmore posted scored of 30-20, 30-16, and 30-25. The Thoroughbreds were led by Erica Duncan (San Francisco, CA) who recorded 17 kills and 11 digs. Freshman Becca Ornsby (Charlton, NY) had quite the game as she helped the cause with 40 assists and 11 digs. Sophomore Lauren Dinsdale (Harrington Park, NJ) had 22 digs for Skidmore. The Saints (14-10) were led by Jessica Lucky (Ottawa, ONT) and Kelly O'Connell (Fishkill, NY) who had nine kills apiece in the loss.
UNION 3, CLARKSON 0
Union won the tournament Saturday by beating Clarkson 3-0. The Dutchwomen swept the match by posting scores of 30-19, 30-23, and 30-20. All Tournament team member

New Paltz improved their record to 19-9 and rounded out the tournament with a victory over St. Lawrence 3-1. New Paltz posted scores of 30-19, 25-30, 30-24, and 30-22.

Amanda Brown (South Glens Falls, NY) all recorded 12 kills for New Paltz. Senior

The Dutchwomen (17-6) came back after an opening game defeat to improve to 17-6. Union won by scores of 28-30, 32-30, 34-32 and 30-26. Junior middle hitter

Clarkson now stands 14-10 after defeating New Paltz in five games by scores of 30-23, 30-22, 24-30, 13-30 and 15-12. Freshman defensive specialist Alison Schroeder (Webster, NY) recorded a career high 32 digs for the Golden Knights. New Paltz (18-8) featured 44 assist and 16 digs from senior setter Katie Becofsky (Altamont, NY) and 20 digs from Amanda Brown (South Glens Falls, NY) while Kim Braga (Long Beach, NY) led the Hawks with 16 kills along with 11 digs.
ST. LAWRENCE 3, POTSDAM 0
The Saints (14-9) swept the Bears by scores of 30-28, 30-27 and 30-23. Sophomore outside hitter Jessica Lucky (Ottawa, ONT) had 21 digs and nine kills for St. Lawrence, which also got 26 assists from Abigail Rose (Sausilito, CA). Potsdam, now 10-16, received 27 assists from freshman setter Kim Plummer (Horseheads, NY) and 11 digs from Priska Wilson (Warwick, NY). Jamie Kraus (New Paltz, NY) added seven kills for the Bears.
CLARKSON 3, SKIDMORE 2
Clarkson came back from losses in the first two games to pull out the victory, the second of the day, to improve to 15-10. The Golden Knights, after losing 18-30 and 26-30, scored 30-27, 33-31 and 16-14 victories to defeat Skidmore (17-7). Freshman defensive specialist Davanna Chetney (Fulton, NY) Clarkson with 23 digs and Alison Schroeder (Webster, NY) had 30 digs. Junior outside hitter Erica Duncan (San Francisco, CA) led the Throughbreds with 27 kils and 34 digs, and Becca Ormsby (Charlton, NY) had 56 assists. Lauren Dinsdale (Harringotn Park, NJ) finished with 42 digs and Kaity Mahoney (Glens Falls, NY) recorded nine blocks and nine kills.
