DeLoid Takes New Head Coaching Role at D-I Marist

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – After a very successful four-year stint leading the Union College women's volleyball program, head coach Annie DeLoid has stepped down to accept the head coaching role at Division I Marist University, it was announced on Monday afternoon.

"Union College will always hold a special place in my heart," DeLoid said. "I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to lead this program and for the trust placed in me by the administration. The relationships built with our student-athletes, staff, and supporters mean more to me than I can put into words. Together, we grew this program into one of the top teams in the region and restored a culture built on pride, connection, and shared purpose. I am deeply appreciative of everyone who invested in this team and supported our vision, and I will always be thankful for my time at Union."

"I would like to thank Annie for her four years of dedication to our women's volleyball team and its student-athletes," said Director of Athletics Jim McLaughlin '93. "The program has taken great steps forward under her direction over the last four years and is poised to remain successful in the coming seasons. We wish Annie nothing but the best in her new position."

DeLoid presided over a four-year period of sustained improvement for the Garnet Chargers, increasing the team's winning percentage in every season and reaching the Liberty League Tournament on three occasions. She finished with a 67-48 (.583) record in four seasons, ranking sixth in program history in career wins and boasting the third-highest winning percentage of any Union volleyball coach.

DeLoid saved her best coaching performance for her final season, earning Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year honors after guiding the Garnet Chargers to their best season in a decade, posting a 22-9 record, a 7-1 mark in the Liberty League and a top-two seed in the Liberty League Tournament. She helped three players to All-Liberty League honors for the third year in a row and also guided senior Shannon McGrath to AVCA All-Region first-team and All-America honorable mention recognition.

A search for the next Union College women's volleyball head coach will begin soon.
