FORT MYERS, FL - The Union College softball team picked up a pair of wins Sunday, defeating SUNY New Paltz, 3-1, and MIT, 7-4. Freshmen pitchers
Tiffany Ippoliti (Schuylerville, NY/ Schuylerville) and
Ginni Sack (Burnt Hills, NY/ Burnt Hills) each earned wins, with Ippoliti hurling a complete game. Union improves to 3-3 on the season.
Ippoliti earned her second win of the season, allowing seven hits and striking out three in a complete-game effort against New Paltz. Megan Kaknes (New Windsor, NY/ NFA) led the Dutchwomen with a double and a single, while Colleen White (Westport, CT/ Staples) collected an RBI on two hits.
Michelle Reinke took the loss for New Paltz (2-7), giving up nine hits to the Dutchwomen.
In game two, Sack earned her first win of the season, striking out two. Lindsay Colvin (Medfield, MA/ Medfield) earned the save, pitching 2.33 innings in relief. Michelle Rogers (Clarence, NY/ Clarence) led Union with a two-run home run in three at-bats.
The Dutchwomen are back in action on Monday when they take on Thomas and DePauw in Fort Myers, FL.
