FT. MYERS, FL -- Sophomore pitcher Tiffany Ippoliti (Schuylerville, NY) posted a shutout and freshman hurler Catherine Ferrara (Port Jefferson, NY) also picked up a victory as Union College improved to 6-2 Thursday. The Dutchwomen downed MIT, 6-3 and St. Olaf, 3-0.

The Dutchwomen got 10 hits to support Ferrara in the victory over MIT (2-7). Union had a five run third inning to erase a 2-0 deficit. Alexandra King (Chester Springs, PA) and Michelle Rogers (Clarence, NY) each had two hits in the triumph, the second over MIT this week. Ferrara allowed just one walk and struck out six in the win, and is 2-0 on the young season. Jesse Olanek took the loss, with 10 hits and six earned runs allowed.

Ippoliti (now 2-1) scattered four St. Olaf hits and struck out four while not allowing a walk. Lindsay Larabee (Westfield, MA) led the bat attack with three hits while the Dutchwomen got two hits each from Kelly Owings (Oswego, NY) and Megan Kaknis (New Windsor, NY). Natalie McNeff took the loss for St. Olaf (6-4), giving up six hits in three innings.

Rogers entered Thursday with a .500 average in the six Florida games, while Larabee entered the day with a .429 mark during the week.

Union wraps up the Florida trip with a single game Friday against Colby. The home opening twinbill will be against Mt. St. Mary on April 6.
