CLINTON, NY -- Junior shortstop Michelle Rogers (Clarence, NY) had five hits and four RBIs and Union got solid pitching performances from Ginny Sack (Burnt Hills, NY) and Catherine Ferrara (Port Jefferson, NY) in a softball sweep at Hamilton Tuesday. The Dutchwomen, winners of 11 of the last 12, are 23-4 after the 13-2 (5 innings) and 9-3 victories.
Rogers had two hits and two RBIs in the opener, while Ashley Kovack (Ridgefield, CT) hit her fourth homer of the year along with three RBIs. Lindsay Larabee (Westfield, MA) also had two hits and two RBIs. Catherine Kielb (Rensselaer, NY) had three of Union's 13 hits. Sack improved to 14-3, allowing four hits and two earned runs while striking out one and not allowing a walk.
Union trailed 3-2 entering the seventh, but scored seven times in the top of the frame. Ferrara is now 6-0 in her freshman season after this triumph. She gave up just three hits in seven innings and all three runs were unearned. Rogers had three hits and two RBIs and Bridget Graham (Orchard Park, NY) drove in two with two hits.
The Dutchwomen face Liberty League rival RPI on the road Friday.
