TROY, NY -- The last time the men's hockey team was on the ice it skated to a 5-1 victory at Clarkson, completing the first Union North Country sweep since the 2002-03 season. After a week off, the Dutchmen are back in action to take on Lake Superior State on Friday, Nov. 27 at 4 p.m. at the Rensselaer Thanksgiving Tournament in Houston Field House. Depending on the outcome, the Dutchmen will either play RPI or Bentley on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 4 p.m. or 7 p.m.

Both contests can be heard on teamline.cc and on WRUC 89.7 FM with Matt Dubrey and Brian Unger '93 on the call. Fans can follow the games via live stats at sidearmstats.com/rpi/mhockey or via video at B2tv.com.

There isn't much history between Union and Lake Superior State or Union and Bentley. Friday's game will be the first between the Dutchmen and the Lakers and if Union and the Falcons meet, it will only be the third time. However, if Union and RPI matchup on Saturday it will be the 73rd time since their first outing on Feb. 26. 1904. If the Dutchmen and Engineers square off, it guarantees that the two teams will face each other four times during the 2009-10 regular season.

Union has had success as of late at Houston Field House. Last season, Corey Milan backstopped the Dutchmen to a 3-0 win on Feb. 6. In its last five trips to RPI, Union has posted a 4-0-1 record (dating back to Nov. 12, 2004). The two squads will meet in Troy, NY again on Dec. 9 at 7 p.m. for an ECAC Hockey contest.

Freshman goaltender Keith Kinkaid will look to extend his two-game winning streak this weekend. The Nov. 16 ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week, led Union to a 4-3 win at St. Lawrence on Nov. 13 with 20 saves for his first career win. He followed with 18 stops at Clarkson.

Offensively, senior forward Mario Valery-Trabucco has registered two points in each of the last three games and has produced multiple points in four of the last six outings. He currently leads the team with 14 points and nine assists. He ranks second with five goals. Valery-Trabucco is on a season-long three game scoring streak and has produced a team-best five multi-point performances.

Valery-Trabucco and Jason Walters are moving up Union career-scoring list. Both players have amassed 83 points in their careers, placing them tied for ninth all-time in program history. Valery-Trabucco is fifth for career goals with 41. He is also tied for third all-time with 314 shots, only 10 shots away from becoming Union's all-time shots leader. Walters is seventh for career assists with 54. He is also tied for fifth for game-winning goals with five.
