CLAREMONT, FL -- The Union College softball team improved to 5-1 with a pair of wins during third day of competition of its spring break trip. Senior 
Megan Kaknis hit her 26th career home run to lead Union to an 8-5 win against D'Youville during game one and junior 
Tiffany Ippoliti struck out six batters in a 5-2 victory against Manchester in the night cap.
Union unloaded 11 hits during the first outings, and senior 
Megan Bordino led the way, going 2-for-2, while sophomore 
Beck Gronczniak went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI.
Freshman 
Erika Hillenbrand made her first career start on the mound. She went the distance, whiffing out six. 
During game two, Union grabbed the lead with three runs in the six and two in the seventh. Bordino extended her hitting streak with a hit and an RBI. Hillenbrand used her bat during the second game, going 1-for-4 with a double and a run.
After taking a day off, Union will face Wisconsin-Whitewater at 9:30 a.m. and Mount Vernon Nazarene at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Mar. 26.
