POTSDAM, NY –
Sophomore Dane Flavin record seven hits and four RBIs, but the Union College Baseball team lost both games in its Liberty League doubleheader at Clarkson on Saturday. Flavin went 4-for-5 with two RBI during the 14-9, game-one loss and followed with a 3-for-5, two RBI performance in the 20-8, game-two setback. Union goes to 3-5 overall and 0-2 in the conference, while Clarkson improves to 9-7 and 5-1 in the Liberty League.

Sophomore third baseman Jarid Hotaling increased his hitting streak to eight games with hits in both outings. Junior first baseman Colin McKelligan went a combined 3-for-5 with two runs scored and three RBI. Senior catcher Ryan Bowes had a team-high five RBI, going 3-for-6 with a three run shot during the first contest.

Bowes homer came in the top of the fourth after the Dutchmen were trailing 14-2. The senior sparked a four run inning for the Dutchmen and Flavin drove in freshman second baseman Jared Henkel to cap the scoring.

First year bench general Dave Dagastino's group followed with two runs in the sixth and a solo run in the seventh.

Junior Andrew Catellier got the start on the bump, going 2.2 innings with two strikeouts.

Senior centerfielder Pat Wilson flashed during game two and improved his season average to .429, going 2-for-5. McKelligan led the way with three hits (3-for-5) and -- along with Bowes -- three RBI.

The Dutchmen did the majority of their offensive damage in the fourth and ninth innings, scoring three in each.

Junior Jeremy LeFebvre was the starting pitcher for Union. He threw 3.2 innings, whiffing one.

The two teams meet again on Sunday, Mar. 30 for a noon doubleheader.
