Baseball Drops Two At Skidmore

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY –
Junior second baseman Andy Brown went 4-for-6 and scored twice in the Union College baseball's 7-1 and 16-5 setbacks at Skidmore on Saturday. Brown registered two hits and scored once in the nightcap. With the losses, Union goes to 5-12 overall and 2-8 in the Liberty League, while Skidmore goes to 13-12 and 5-7 in the Liberty League.

Sophomore outfielder Anthony Cassese went 2-for-4 on the day, while freshman outfielder Nicholas Ranalli and junior first baseman Colin McKelligan went 2-for-5 with an RBI. Sophomore outfielder Jarid Hotaling went 2-for-6.

During game one, McKelligan drove in Brown with an RBI single. The base knock made the score 5-1 in the top of the fifth, but two more runs in the sixth produced the final result. Brown led the way during the game, going 2-for-2.

In game two, senior centerfielder Pat Wilson got Union on the board with a one-out double to centerfield to score senior catcher Shawn Johnston from first base.

In the top of the sixth, freshman third baseman Kevin Dexter hit is first career home run, a two-run shot that scored Ranalli.

Wilson picked up an RBI in the top of the seventh and Brown scored in the top of the eighth for Union's fifth run.

The Dutchmen return to the field on Tuesday, April 14 for a 4 p.m. game at SUNY Oneonta.
