Baseball Loses Non-conference Battle

ONEONTA, NY –
Four members of the Union College baseball team registered multiple-hit games in the Dutchmen's 7-2 loss at SUNY Oneonta on Tuesday afternoon. Junior centerfielder John Johnson went 2-for-2 with an RBI, while freshman utility player Kevin Dexter went 2-for-4 with an RBI. Junior second baseman Andy Brown and junior first baseman Colin McKelligan joined the group. Brown was 2-for-4 with a run scored and McKelligan went 2-for-2.

With the loss Union goes to 5-13 overall, while Oneonta improves to 20-6.

Union fell behind 3-0 after four innings, but pulled within one with runs in the seventh and eighth innings.

Johnson led off the seventh with a single and scored with a two-out, RBI single by McKelligan. In the eighth, Brown crossed home plate from second after he singled and advanced during sophomore infielder Dane Flavin's at-bat. Johnson drove in Brown with his second base hit in as many innings.

The Red Dragon's answered in the eighth, scoring four runs and putting the game out of reach.

Union posted 10 hits as compared to Oneonta's eight. Both teams avoided any errors.

Junior David Arouca got the start on the mound, going two innings and striking out two.

Union hosts cross-town rival RPI for a doubleheader on Saturday, April 18 at 2 p.m.
